Lives Worth Living, Lives Worth Saving

For some reason, no matter how far I think society progresses...they always prove me terribly wrong and I'm forced to believe the world is fullll of prejudice, ignorance, hate and crime and that contrary to popular belief, it is NOT getting better.

After reading and watching the news reports of Tyler Clementi, I've become so disgusted in people and it just blows my mind how people can have such hate in their hearts.
(If you haven't read the articles, a brief summary is that Tyler's roommate, Dharun Ravi & Molly Wei, live streamed video of Tyler having intercourse with another male, and the Ravi posted links on his Twitter account so that all could watch. He also tried recording Tyler again a few days later. Tyler jumped off of the George Washington Bridge, leaving the chilling note on his Facebook status.)

There are a couple aspects of this story that upsets me.
-First off, Why...How on Earth can people find invading someone's privacy entertaining? Nobody who saw the live-streaming of Tyler's intimate moments thought maybe that was unacceptable?! No one could speak up on Tyler's behalf? The viewers thought it was funny? Well now Tyler is dead. This talented young man's life was cut short, because some homophobic ass thought it was be epic to stream his roommate's sexual encounters.
It makes me sick.

-Secondly, I'm saddened to know that this young man felt dying was better than living a life where people knew you were gay. (or simply having relations with a man)

Honestly, whether its being in a same-sex relationship, or wanting to be part of an interracial relationship, or simply loving whomever it is you love...many people are afraid to live happily, embracing what they desire and are intrigued by, all because their family, friends, church members, strangers..frown upon this, and that isn't tradition, and this is unnatural and blah FUCKING blah.

*sigh. I'm tried of us as an society, not moving forward.
All I can do is shake my head, I can't even try to begin to understand how people have the capacity to hate someone, for something such as love? Love is never wrong & If they had love in their lives they wouldn't be bullying, discriminating or killing.

Within the last 3 weeks, there have also been the suicide of Raymond Chase (Johnson & Wiles University) and 3 other cases of LGBT Youth committing suicide.

Youth Bullying, harassment, privacy invasion, and acts of violence need to CEASE, universities need to start holding these perpetrators accountable.

*Oh & don't even get me started on Reverend Eddie Long.
Whether or not Long actually committed the acts of which he was recently accused, this much is true: He is assuredly guilty of engendering fear and hatred of LGBT people among thousands. He has convinced countless numbers of gays that they are sinners whose salvation rests on becoming "reconditioned" into heterosexuality. Such toxic teachings reinforce the stigma that compromises HIV-prevention efforts as well as our mental and physical health.

I just needed to blog this out, so I could get it off my mind.
LGBT Youth, are not deviants or inferior, they are simply youth.
Last time I checked, Youth are the future & They deserve to live and be an asset to our future.
LGBT youth are lives worth saving.
LGBT youth, your lives are worth living.

*Fuck hugging a vegetarian, have you hugged a LGBT youth today?

-Live A Life of COMPASSION!
Please people, Please.
